Payment links

Payment link lifecycle and statuses

Waiting for payment, Done, Expired, Cancelled — and what you can change after creation.

A link moves through a small, one-way set of statuses.

Statuses

  • Waiting for payment — accepting payments.
  • Done — the link received its one completed payment. The counter increments when a payment settles, so a link may briefly accept an extra payment that is already in flight.
  • Expired — the link passed its expiration time. Expiration is optional and set at creation, with Expires in the create dialog: 1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days, or a date and time you choose. (This used to be available only through the shop API. It is on the dialog now.)
  • Cancelled — you shut the link down. This is permanent.

What you can edit

Only the title and description of a link that is still waiting for payment can change; edits update the checkout page too. The amount and the payment contract cannot change once the link exists — if you need a different price, cancel the link and create a new one.

Cancelling a link

From the link detail page choose Cancel link. Because cancelling is permanent, the confirmation asks you to type CANCEL before it goes ahead.

  • New payments stop immediately.
  • Payments already received are unaffected — cancelling a link never touches settled funds.
  • The link keeps its payment history for reporting.

Owners and managers can cancel links.

Legal & regulatory disclosures

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
