FAQ
Straight answers to fair questions.
Taking payments in a new currency deserves clear explanations. If your question isn't here, ask us — a person will answer.
The basics
What is USDC, in plain terms?
USDC is a digital dollar — a currency that lives on a blockchain and is designed to hold its value at 1 US dollar. When a customer pays through Zoyn, they pay in their own currency, and what arrives in your wallet is the settlement currency you chose for that link — USDC by default. You can hold it, or convert through an exchange of your choice.
Do I need to understand crypto to use Zoyn?
No. You create payment links from a normal web dashboard, and your customers can pay by card in the countries listed on our Markets page, without needing a crypto wallet of their own. The one crypto-native thing you need is a wallet to receive your money — and we walk you through that during onboarding.
Do my customers need crypto?
No. Your customer opens your payment link and pays on a secure checkout page — by card in the countries listed on our Markets page, without ever needing a crypto wallet, or from their own crypto wallet if they have one. The card company may ask a card payer to confirm some details or verify who they are; a customer paying from their own crypto wallet is asked none of it.
Will my customer have to prove who they are to pay by card?
They may be. The card company may ask your customer to confirm some details or verify who they are before the payment goes through. Those checks belong to that company, not to Zoyn, and what it asks for is its decision. A customer paying from their own crypto wallet is asked none of this.
What exactly is a payment link?
A link for a fixed amount that you name and share — for a project, a product, a deposit. You can add a description and set an expiry date. Each link is for a single payment, and each one opens a hosted checkout page; you never build or host anything.
Does Zoyn support subscriptions or recurring billing?
Not today. Zoyn is built around one-time, fixed-amount payments. If your business needs recurring billing, tell us — it helps us decide what to build next.
Can I send an invoice instead of a payment link?
Yes. Create a numbered invoice with a line-by-line breakdown of what you're charging for, and it creates its own payment link automatically — your customer pays it exactly the way they'd pay any link.
Can my customers pay on my own web address instead of yours?
Yes. Point your own domain at your checkout page, and the page your customer pays on shows your web address instead of ours.
Your money
Who holds my money?
You do. Your money goes to a wallet you control — we never have it, and if you keep that wallet yourself, in your own wallet app or on your own device, we hold no key that could move it. There is one point where someone else does hold it: if your customer pays by card or bank transfer, the company that takes that payment holds it first, on its own terms, before it reaches you. Once the network has confirmed the payment into your wallet, it is yours.
Is Zoyn a bank or payment processor?
No. Zoyn is a software platform — not a bank, money transmitter, payment processor, or wallet provider. Payments settle directly between your customer and you on the Base blockchain, using infrastructure operated by third parties. The details are in our legal documents.
How fast does the money arrive?
It depends on how your customer pays. A card or bank payment goes through their provider first, and that provider can add its own processing time or a hold. After that, the payment still has to be confirmed on the network before we count it as final, and how busy the network is affects how long that takes. Your dashboard shows where each payment has got to, so you are never guessing.
How do refunds work?
A confirmed on-chain transfer is treated as final after the required network confirmations. If you refund it, you send funds from your own wallet. Card- or bank-funded checkout methods can still be subject to the provider's dispute, reversal, hold, and fee rules; Zoyn does not set or waive those rules.
What if a customer pays the wrong amount?
If they send a little less than the link asks for and the amount missing is small, we complete the payment on our own — you won't see it as a problem. A bigger shortfall shows as "Underpaid" on your dashboard, and it's your call what happens next: send them a link for just the difference, or accept what arrived as the final amount. If they send too much, we don't calculate or refund the extra for them — like a cash overpayment, sorting that out is a conversation directly between you and your customer.
Is there a limit on how much my customer can pay at once?
It depends on how the customer pays. Buyers paying from their own crypto wallet do not use an on-ramp (the service that turns a card or bank payment into crypto), but wallet, network, compliance, and product limits can still apply. Buyers paying by card, bank transfer, or Apple Pay / Google Pay are subject to the checkout network’s onramp limits, which vary by payment method, country, and the buyer’s identity verification level. The checkout shows the methods and limits available to that buyer; Zoyn does not promise an unrestricted payment amount.
What if I lose access to my wallet?
We can't get it back for you, and neither can anyone else — that is the flip side of keeping the wallet yourself. We never hold a copy of your wallet's key or recovery phrase, so there is no "reset my password" option. If you still have your recovery phrase, that is your way back in — write it down and keep it somewhere safe as soon as you set the wallet up. If access is gone for good, you can point future payments to a new wallet you control from your dashboard — but anything already sent to the wallet you lost stays there; nobody, including us, can move it for you.
What happens to my money if Zoyn shuts down?
Nothing — because we never had it. Your payments settle straight into your own on-chain contract and wallet, not into an account at Zoyn. If our software ever went away, your contract, your wallet, and the outside accounts you’ve connected keep working on the network without us. What would stop working is the dashboard, your links, and our reporting and support. The details are in our legal documents.
Fees and applying
What does Zoyn cost?
One per-transaction fee, starting at 0.75%, agreed with you in writing before you go live. No monthly platform fee, no setup fee. If your customer pays by card, the card or on-ramp company charges its own fee and a currency-conversion spread — paid by your customer at checkout, not by you, and neither set nor received by Zoyn. See Pricing for the full picture.
Does it cost my customer extra to pay by card?
Yes. A customer who pays by card goes through an independent card or on-ramp company, and that company adds its own fee — and a spread on the currency conversion — to what your customer pays. It’s set and charged by that provider, shown to your customer at checkout before they confirm, and Zoyn neither sets nor receives it. A customer paying from their own crypto wallet does not pay it. Zoyn’s own fee is the single per-transaction rate you agreed — see Pricing.
How do I get started?
You apply with your business details, confirm a short set of agreements, and connect the accounts your checkout runs on — we guide you through each step. We screen every application against our requirements, and there is no instant approval.
What do I need before I apply?
Your business details — legal name, website, what you sell, and roughly how much you expect to take each month — your business address, and a wallet on the Base network to receive your payouts. We don't ask for a tax ID or company registration number. If you don't already have a wallet, the application shows you how to set one up for free in a few minutes.
Can I be turned down, and why?
Yes. We screen every application, and we don't approve everyone. If we turn you down, we tell you why in the decision email. There's no waiting period — you're welcome to fix what we flagged and apply again straight away.
Is Zoyn available where I am?
We publish our coverage honestly rather than claiming to be everywhere. Some countries and US states are not supported today, and we do not onboard businesses in comprehensively sanctioned countries. The live list is on the Markets page, and supported business types are on the Industries page.
Can my team use it too?
Yes. Invite teammates with roles that match their job — an owner or location manager runs day-to-day operations, team leaders and agents create payment links, and a financial viewer sees reports and exports without changing anything. Everyone gets exactly the access they need and nothing more. If one of your team needs a bit more or a bit less than their role gives them, the owner can build a custom role with exactly the extra permissions they need.
