Before you apply

Will we take your business? Here's exactly how we decide.

Start with the list: every business type we take and every one we refuse. Then read what we look at, what you need to have ready, and what happens if we say no. Every application is reviewed, and there is no instant approval.

Read this first: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 10 we refuse.

Business types we refuse
  • Gambling / wagering
  • Money services / FX
  • Cannabis / marijuana
  • Firearms / ammunition
  • Adult / NSFW content
  • Tobacco / vape

What we look at

The five things we look at.

1

What you sell

The business type you pick, and what you tell us your business does in your own words. It has to be a type we take — the list above is the whole list, not a sample.

2

Where you are

The country you trade from. Some countries and US states are not covered today, and we don't take businesses in countries under full sanctions.

3

Whether your details fit together

Your business name, your website, your email address and your phone number. We look at whether they point to the same business. A personal email address is common for a small business and isn't a reason on its own to say no.

4

Whether we've seen these details before

If the same details appear on another application, we look at why before deciding.

5

Your payout wallet

The wallet your money will settle to is checked against a sanctions list when you add it. A wallet that matches can't be saved.

What to have ready

No tax ID, no registration number, no past statements.

The application asks for:

  • Your business's legal name, and your trading name if it's different

  • Your website

  • A few sentences on what your business does

  • Roughly how much you expect to take each month

  • Your business address, and a phone number

  • A wallet on the Base network for your payouts — the application shows you how to set one up for free if you don't have one

What happens next

You get one of three answers.

Yes

We tell you, and the application walks you through what is left to set up before you take your first payment.

We need more information

We tell you what's missing. You change your details and send the application back, and we look again.

No, with the reason

The decision email tells you why. There's no waiting period: fix what we flagged and you can apply again straight away.

Common questions

What people ask before they apply.

Another company turned me down. Why?

We can't tell you why someone else said no — only they know what they looked at. What we can tell you is exactly what we look at, which is everything on this page.

My business is new and has no trading history. Can I apply?

Yes. The application doesn't ask how long you've been trading, and it doesn't ask for past card statements. We look at what you sell, where you are, and whether your details fit together.

My company is registered in another country. Can I apply?

You pick your country on the form. If we don't cover it yet, the form tells you when you save that step. The countries we cover are listed on our Markets page, which is kept up to date.

I work for myself, with no company. Can I apply?

Yes. A sole trader can apply — choose "Sole proprietorship" on the form.

Do you need my tax ID or company registration number?

No. The application doesn't ask for either.

How long does the review take?

We don't promise a time. A review can take longer than you'd like, and we'd rather tell you that than give you a date we can't keep.

The form said my business type needs an extra look. What does that mean?

Some business types need an extra check before the application can carry on. It isn't a no. The form tells you if yours is one, and you can pick a different type if you chose the wrong one.

Direct merchant account onboarding supported across 64 verified global jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Global buyer checkout (USDC settlement) supported across 130+ countries via integrated on-ramp bridges; buyer-checkout coverage is determined by the third-party on-ramp providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice.
