Payments for architects

A payment at every stage, from appointment to handover.

House extensions, new homes and commercial projects are all paid the same way: a first payment when you are appointed, then a fee as each stage of the design is finished. Send each stage as one link, and settle stablecoins straight to a wallet you control.

Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 10 we refuse.

Why this is harder than it looks

A long project, paid one stage at a time.

Your fee is paid in stages, over months or years

A payment when you are appointed, then a fee at the end of each stage: concept, developed design, technical drawings, and the work on site until handover. Each stage is its own invoice, and some practices bill monthly once building starts.

Send one link for each stage invoice, with the stage name and your invoice number as the description. Each invoice is its own link, and there is no automatic monthly charge.

A stage fee is a large sum for one client to send

A stage payment can run into the thousands, from a homeowner as easily as from a developer, and sometimes from a client in another country who is building here.

Your client pays from their own wallet, or by card where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks. Card payments have limits that depend on the customer's country and identity checks, so a large stage fee may be easier to pay from a wallet.

“Planning was refused” or “it isn't what we pictured”

The stage is finished and invoiced, and then the planning decision goes the wrong way, or the client sees the drawings and changes their mind. When they paid by card, that disappointment can come back as a card dispute.

When your client pays from their own wallet, they push the payment, and Zoyn does not reverse a settled transfer. A card-funded payment can still be subject to the provider's own dispute rules. Your appointment terms decide what each stage fee covers; Zoyn has no refund button.

Your stage fees settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a client paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

One link per stage.

1

Finish the stage and create its link

Fixed amount for that stage, with the stage name and invoice number as the description.

2

Send it with the stage invoice

By email or message. Your client pays from their own wallet, or by card where available in their country.

3

The fee reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations, in the currency the link was set in.

Common questions

What an architect asks first.

Can I send one link for the whole fee and let the client pay it off?

No. Every link is a single payment for a fixed amount. Send one link for each stage invoice, the same way you already invoice by stage.

We name our stages differently. Does that matter?

No. Whether you work in design phases (schematic design, design development, construction documents, construction administration) or in numbered work stages, each stage is simply its own link with its own description.

Can clients pay building costs through me this way?

No. These links are for your own fees for work you have done. They are not for building costs or money you hold or pass on for a client.

What does it cost me?

One per-transaction fee, starting at 0.75%, agreed with you in writing before you go live. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any card-processing costs charged by the checkout partners, are separate and shown at checkout.

Is the money held anywhere before it reaches me?

A wallet payment goes to a wallet only you control after the required network confirmations. Two honest limits: a payment can be turned away before it reaches you if the checks on it do not pass, and while your Zoyn account is under review, Zoyn pauses automatic payouts to your wallet until the review is finished.

Do you accept my practice?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is checked before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.
