Payments for event caterers

Take catering deposits months before the event.

Wedding, party and corporate caterers hold a date months ahead, then wait for the final guest numbers before the bill is known. Send one link for the deposit when the date is booked, and one for the balance once the numbers are final. Your client pays from their own wallet, and stablecoins settle to a wallet you control. A deposit taken this way is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any of it is a payment you send back yourself.

Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 11 we refuse.

Why this is harder than it looks

A date held early, numbers that change, and a bill at the end.

The date is held months ahead

Once you commit to a date, you turn other events away for it.

Send the deposit link when the date is booked, with the event name as the description. Every link is a single payment of a fixed amount.

Guest numbers change

The final headcount often arrives a week or two before the event.

Send the balance link once the numbers are final. Zoyn keeps no card on file and charges nothing automatically.

Companies want an invoice

A corporate client pays against an invoice, not a booking form.

Put the invoice number in the link's description, so the payment points back to the invoice. Each invoice is its own link.

Deposits and balances settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a buyer paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

A deposit for the date, the balance for the final numbers.

1

Agree the menu and your terms

Your terms say what the deposit is, when the final numbers and the balance are due, and what happens if the event is cancelled.

2

Send the deposit link, then the balance

Your client pays from their own wallet, or by card where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations, in the currency the link was set in.

Common questions

What a caterer asks first.

Can the balance be charged automatically?

No. Zoyn keeps no card on file and charges nothing automatically. Each payment is its own link, which you send when it is due.

The guest numbers go down after the balance is paid.

Your terms decide what is owed. Returning any of it is a payment you send back yourself. Zoyn has no refund button.

The client wants a tasting first.

If you charge for tastings, send the tasting as its own link. Every link is a single payment of a fixed amount.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Will you take my catering business?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is reviewed before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Hosting the event at your own venue? Read the page for wedding and event venues. Taking bookings for your own dining room? Read the page for private dining deposits. Not sure we'd take your business? See exactly how we decide.

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
