Take the removal deposit, and the balance before unloading.
House removals, local moving firms, man-and-van services, office moves, and packing and crating firms all quote before the job and learn the real price on the day. Customers pay from their own wallet, and the money reaches your wallet once it has fully cleared. A deposit taken this way is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any unused part is a payment you send back yourself.
Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 10 we refuse.
Check yours in ten secondsA deposit taken days ahead, and a final price that is not the price quoted.
The quote is an estimate, and the real figure is only known on the day
Extra boxes, a piano nobody mentioned, a third-floor flat with no lift, or a longer carry to the door all change the price after the survey. A customer who agreed one number is then asked for another.
Take the deposit as one fixed link when the job is booked. On moving day, create the balance link for the real figure, with the extra items named in its description, so the customer sees exactly what they are paying for before they pay it.
The balance needs to be paid before the van is unloaded, not chased afterwards
Once the furniture is inside the new home, an unpaid balance becomes a debt to chase. Firms ask for the balance before unloading for exactly that reason.
Send the balance link while the van is on its way, so it can be paid before unloading starts. Customers can pay from their own wallet, or by card in countries where a card option is offered — whether a card works depends on where they are and on the card company's own checks, and a card payment can be declined or asked for ID. The money reaches your wallet once the payment has fully cleared.
A changed moving date or a damaged item turns the deposit into an argument
Completion slips, the customer moves the date, and the question becomes whether the deposit comes back. Or a scratched table becomes a disagreement about the balance weeks later.
The customer sends the payment themselves, and Zoyn does not reverse it once it has cleared, so a payment made from a wallet cannot be pulled back through a card dispute. Your own terms govern date changes, cancellations and damage, together with the consumer law that applies to you. Someone who paid by card or bank can still raise a dispute under that company's own rules.
Deposit at booking, balance on the day.
Book the job with a deposit link
A fixed amount, with the move date and both addresses' towns as the description. Send it with your written quote.
Create the balance on the day
A second link for the final figure, including anything added after the survey. Packing materials and crating can be their own line in its description.
The money lands in your wallet
Once each payment has fully cleared, in the currency the link was set in.
What a removal firm asks first.
Can I take a deposit at booking and the balance before unloading?
Yes — as two links, each a fixed amount. Every link is a single payment; there is no payment plan and no automatic billing.
The final price is higher than my quote — can the balance link change?
Each link is fixed once it is created, so create the balance link on the day, once you know the real figure. If something changes after that, send one more link for the difference.
The customer changed the date — how do I give the deposit back?
A deposit taken this way is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any of it is a payment you send back yourself, under your own terms. Zoyn has no refund button.
A customer disputes a damage charge weeks after the move — what happens to the payment?
The customer sends the payment themselves, and Zoyn does not reverse it once it has cleared, so a payment made from a wallet cannot be pulled back through a card dispute. Your own terms govern damage claims. Someone who paid by card or bank can still raise a dispute under that company's own rules.
Is the money really mine once it arrives?
It lands in a wallet only you control. Two honest limits: while your Zoyn account is under review, Zoyn pauses automatic payouts to your wallet until the review is finished; and a card payment can be declined or asked for ID before it is sent.
Do you accept my business?
