The booking deposit is taken online, often from a traveller who has never dealt with your business before and is not in the country where the vehicle sits. The security deposit is then taken in person, at pickup, against a specific vehicle — two separate payment moments most other trades don't have.
Renters can pay from their own wallet, or by card in countries where a card option is offered — whether a card works depends on where they are and on the card company's own checks. The money reaches your wallet once the payment has fully cleared, whether it is the booking deposit or the security deposit.
Damage, fuel level and late-return charges become disputes after the keys are back
A renter disagrees with a damage charge, a fuel top-up fee, or a late-return penalty weeks after the vehicle is returned — and the disagreement arrives as a card dispute long after the rental and the deposit both looked settled.
The renter sends the payment themselves, and Zoyn does not reverse it once it has cleared, so a payment made from a wallet cannot be pulled back through a card dispute. Your own rental agreement governs damage and fuel charges, and a security deposit taken this way is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any unused part is a payment you send back yourself.
