Payments for language schools

Take the course deposit before the student travels.

Language courses and summer schools are booked a season ahead, often by a student in another country or by their family. Send one payment link for the deposit, and the student pays the full amount from their own wallet. It settles to a wallet you control, after the required network confirmations.

Why this is harder than it looks

Short courses, students abroad, and visas that can say no.

Many start dates, each booked months ahead

Courses run for a few weeks and start almost every Monday of the season. Each booking needs a deposit to confirm the place, and the rest before the student arrives.

Send the deposit and the balance as two links, each a fixed amount, with your booking number as the description. Every link is a single payment, and nothing is charged automatically.

The student pays from abroad, often with family help

The person paying may be a parent in another country, using a bank that has never sent money to a school abroad before.

Whoever pays the link pays from their own wallet, in the currency the link was set in. A card option may also appear where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks.

A refused visa turns the deposit into a refund question

Some students need a visa for a longer course, and a refusal can arrive after the deposit has been paid.

Your own refund policy, and the rules that apply to your school, decide what is returned. A deposit taken this way is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any of it is a payment you send back yourself. Zoyn has no refund button.

Course deposits settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And someone paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

One link for the deposit, one for the rest.

1

Confirm the course and send the deposit link

A fixed amount, with your booking number as the description.

2

Send the balance link before arrival

The student, or whoever is paying for them, pays from their own wallet, or by card where available in their country.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations, in the currency the link was set in.

Common questions

What a language school asks first.

Can I take the deposit now and the rest of the course fee later?

Yes, as two links, each a fixed amount. Every link is a single payment; there is no payment plan, no instalments and nothing charges automatically.

The student's visa was refused. How do I return the deposit?

A deposit taken this way is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any of it is a payment you send back yourself, under your own refund policy. Zoyn has no refund button.

Can a parent or sponsor pay the student's link?

Yes. Whoever pays the link pays it once, for the amount on it. Send the link to the person who is actually paying.

The student booked through an agent. Who should get the link?

Send your own link straight to whoever is paying for the course. We don't take agents collecting a student's tuition to pass on to a college or university, so the link should never go through the agent's hands.

What should I put in the link description?

Your booking number. Leave the student's name out of it.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Do you accept my school?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is reviewed before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Legal & regulatory disclosures

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
